and btw...how can their be any sort of shadow on the sun?...i mean what does even the title mean?

First off, its shadow of the sun, ie a type of night time, not being in the light... being left out

now its explaining to a person that they are bringing everything upon themselves, they have been left before etc and just let it build up in them

this song is about the fear of dying alone... the general fear of having no one when u die not a relative or even a friend.

if you have seen collateral,the tom cruise movie, it has a very good use of this song.
