The singer is on tour with a band and is missing her honey so she's sad. But she keeps going on, being a "super trouper." Then he comes to see her and he's in the audience. So that night when the lights are on her, she will be happy because he will be there watching.

Bilbert is correct. In the ABBA video, however, the spotlight featured throughout the music video is, in fact, a CCT Silhouette follow spot, as opposed to a real Super Trouper.

Super Trouper is the registered trademark of a series of spotlights manufactured by Ballantyne Strong of Omaha, Nebraska since 1956. Super Troopers are the most common type of spotlight that are used on most stage performances.

I'm not positive on this, but I'm going to say they are probably disco lights, you know the colored ones that spin around? Not the disco ball ones but the colored ones. I'm basing this on all of ABBA's songs came out in the '70's and have a very disco beat to them. On a side note, I love that movie, mostly because of the music. My mom listened to it all the time when I was a kid.
