First you need to find the emotional concept for your song, is it sadness, happiness, loneliness, excitement, passion, etc. Next, you need an inspiration in which you will utilize the concept (e.g. happiness: how you felt when you were together with the person you like). Then, write down your feelings, don't be afraid and pour it all out. It seems like a narrative draft at first, but then make the sentences brief and concise as it becomes meaningful phrases. Draw from your experiences or how you view things and experiences of others. Everything is good when you speak from the heart.

This is simple.

Write the "Cat/hat/mat" version, and finish it. There. That's version number 1 (or song number 1). Put it in a draw.

Tomorrow, write a new set of lyrics to the song; make yourself use all different words. The new lyrics will suck too. Doesn't matter. Finish it, put it in a draw.

Next day, start again, write a new set of lyrics to the same chords. Also will suck, although a little less sucky than the first two.

and so on.

Repeat.

I guarantee you that if you keep repeating this exercise, you'll eventually have something that doesn't suck.

The best lyrics are ones that don't make sense the first time you hear them. For example, listen to songs from the killers. (All these things that I've done, or, when you were young are good songs) They have great lyrics. A bad example of lyrics is anything from bruno mars. That kid has an AMAZING voice, but his lyrics are too direct, and that makes them very cheesy. You have to say what you want to say without actually saying it.

Choose a topic. How about beauty?

I had to write two original poems of my own for a huge project last year and this is what i came up with. feel free to use any lines from them:

Wondrous Nights

The street lights glow in the midst of night showers

While the fog clears we learn to trust ourselves.

That we are empowered inside and out,

Perfection is there beyond any doubt.

The wondrousness of any man, women or human being,

Whether expressed through music, art or natural beauty.

Our first instinct is to put ourselves down,

Because of our flaws, imperfections or simple indiscretions.

But when it comes to the reality of it all,

We must be empowered inside and out.

The Perfect Hidden Smile

When she looks in the mirror,

A reflection of herself appears bright and clear.

Whether she likes it or not, who knows, who sees?

Her own opinion is mostly harsh, she’s hard to please.

But when others see her reflection, they stare at ease.

Her complexion, her posture, her perfect hidden smile,

That one could see her from a distant mile.

She’s an eye catcher to us with style,

Ready at only the age of seventeen,

Who could miss this talented beauty queen?
