My best advice would be for you to get some inspiration from upbeat bands or musicians you like. Me, I listen to punk rock, which I consider fast, and I am confident you are not interested in that. Try listening to moody/slow/sad bands and/or musicians who get slightly more upbeat. For instance; Tori Amos had a song called "Corn Flake Girl" that was upbeat but still fit her style of music. It's whatever hits your mood and allows you to flow.

I'm a musician. I love writing songs and actually finished one today with my band. You can't really teach someone how to write a song. It's just a feeling that you have to go by. If it sounds right then it's right. The song I wrote today sounds totally crazy and awkward but it's what I wanted to write so that's how it came out. To begin you need to start with finding and feeling what I call "pure inspiration." From there you just build ideas and form those ideas into sound. I like to start with music before I move to topic and lyrics, but sense you know you want it to be fast paced maybe you should start by maybe deciding on a mood? Angry? Excited? Happy? Rebellious? Then just allow the music to flow. :] I hope this helped. Writing a song is a delicate art and it's extremely difficult even to write the simplest of songs. I rely on letting my emotions just flow out into sound and words. Good luck with the song! Let me know if you have any questions.

I'VE SEEN IT ALL BEFORE, FROM THE DANCE-FLOOR TO THE BAR.

FIRST THE EYES, THE SMILE, THE SENIC RIDE HOME

AND TAKE IT DOWN ALL OVER AGAIN

AND THEN THE SECOND NIGHT YA SEE'EM THERE

BOTH TALKIN' T' SOMEONE NEW

SO WHEN THOSE EYES COM ON I TRY T WALK AWAY

I KNOW HERE IT'LL STAY THAT WAY

BUT HEY YOU OVER THERE THE ONE I'VE YET T TALK TO.

C'MON BABY LOOK MY WAY JUST ONCE MORE

IT'S AGAINST MY BETTER JUDGEMENT

YEAH I KNOW BETTER, I SHOULD JUST WALK OUT THE DOOR.

HEY YOU OVER THERE THE ONE I'VE YET T' KISS

IF IT'S JUST...THE... THRILL... OF THE CATCH

YOU'RE LOOKIN FOR,

DON'T BOTHER WALKIN' MY WAY SUGAR

I'M ALREADY YOURS.

YEAH YOU'VE CAUGHT ME SOMETIME NOW

LOVIN' YOU WITH JUST MY EYES

SEE, I CAN TURN MY HEAD AND YOU'RE GONE

CUZ THEY SAY IT'S A BAD ODDS GAMBLE,

ONCE THEY'VE CAUGHT CHYA YA KNOW THEY CAN

TEAR THE HOOK FROM YOUR HEART N THROW YA BACK AGAIN

BUT HEY YOU OVER THERE THE ONE I'VE YET T' TALK TO

C'MON SUGAR SMILE AT ME JUST ONCE MORE

YEAH, I BEEN HERE A TIME OR TWO, I DO KNOW BETTER

I SHOULD JUST WALK OUT THE DOOR

HEY YOU OVER THERE THE ONE IVE YET TO KISS

IF IT'S JUST...THE...THRILL...OF THE CATCH

YOU'RE LOOKIN' FOR

DON'T BOTHER WALKIN' MY WAY BABY

I'M ALREADY YOURS...I'M ALREADY YOURS

( Take it ASHLEIGH...It's not done. Needs a lyrical bridge, I think, but an instrumental bridge is O.K. too. Have some fun with it. Change lyrics, rearrange this-n-that if ya want. It's written to be an uptempo fun, flirty tune that both genders can understand but I think it leans just a bit more towards it being for a female vocalist. Do you agree? Anyway, like I said...Take it away Ashleigh...

I'll split the royalties with ya 50 / 50...heh heh) AND ALSO, THERE'RE LOTTA GOOD BOOKS ON SONG WRITING ON THE MARKET. "6 STEPS TO SONGWRITING SUCCESS" by Blume IS A PRETTY GOOD CONTEMPORARY GUIDE WITH ALOT OF EASIER SONG FORMATS AND ADDRESS' THE WRITERS THAT WRITE THOSE SLOW SAD ROMANTIC SONGS AND HOW TO EXPAND FROM THERE. ( The song above is acually a more difficult format that relys alot on accent placements and instrumentation to carry the unmetered lyrics. It was a good excersize for me. NOW YOU TAKE IT AND MAKE IT NEW AGAIN. Make it yerz. Bye fer now.

think about things you have a passion about thing you know a lot about have some rhyme schemes visit sites like rhyme zone or something to help the words rhyme and give a rhythmic pattern for people to feel the vibe just write any words that come to your mind I would like to help cowrite the song with you bands do it all the time and two minds are greater than one but if you want to do it independetely than I could help search beats that portray the emotion such as anger or sadness and research some events in history that could portray those moments add some figures of speech such as alliteration you can even make a sonnet

if you want more advice contact me on youtube search edgarthendo and if you prefer facebook my facebook link is on there as well
